In Loving Memory of
Linda Lazarus

29 July 1956 – 7 July 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Secretary, Linda Lazarus, on 7 July 2025. Linda was not just a pillar of the Western Province Hockey Union—she was its heart and soul. For over 35 years, Linda dedicated herself wholeheartedly to the Union, shaping not only its day-to-day operations but also the warmth, care, and sense of family that define WPHU.

Linda was far more than an administrator. She was a friend, a mentor, and the kind, familiar face that made everyone feel at home. Her infectious smile, gentle manner, and unwavering kindness created an environment where people felt welcomed, supported, and uplifted. Whether you were a young player walking into your first tournament, a coach seeking guidance, or a visitor needing help, Linda’s calming presence and genuine care left a lasting impression.

She approached everything she did with quiet strength and tireless dedication—but above all, with heart. Her deep love for the game of hockey was matched only by her love for people. She brought joy, positivity, and many a good laugh into every space she entered, and her ability to connect with others was truly extraordinary.

Linda’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She spoke often, and with deep affection, about her beloved husband André, her children Martin and Tanya, and her precious grandchildren. Her love for them was boundless, and everything she did was rooted in that love. Her warmth, compassion, and steady presence at home mirrored the same qualities she shared so generously with her hockey family.

Linda’s legacy at WPHU is immeasurable. Generations of players, volunteers, administrators, and friends have been shaped by her grace, care, and continual positivity. She was the heartbeat of the organisation, and that rhythm will continue to echo in the corridors of Hartleyvale, our memories and our community for years to come.

We mourn this enormous loss together, but we also honour and celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who gave so much of herself, so selflessly, for so long.

We extend our deepest condolences to André, Martin, Tanya and her grandchildren, and to all who loved and cherished her.

Thank you, Linda, for your love, your kindness, and your beautiful spirit.

You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

May your beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
